The Cheapest Roof Repair Is the One You Never Need
Roofs rarely fail overnight. A slipped tile, a blocked parapet gutter or a cracked piece of flashing lets a little water in for months before you see a stain on the ceiling — and by then you're paying for plaster, decoration and sometimes timber as well as the roof. A small problem caught early costs a fraction of the water damage it causes later.
That's the whole point of maintenance: we look at your roof once a year, fix the small stuff while it's still small, and you avoid the big bills. We do this across the whole of Tower Hamlets — E1, E2, E3 and E14.
What a Roof Inspection Covers
- Tiles and slates — slipped, cracked or missing
- Ridge and hip tiles — loose or failed mortar bedding
- Lead flashing — at chimneys, abutments and dormers
- Valleys and parapet gutters — the classic weak spot on East London terraces
- The chimney stack — pointing, flaunching and pots (see chimney repairs)
- Gutters and downpipes — blockages, leaking joints and falls
- The loft, where accessible — checking for damp staining and daylight showing through
You get a photo report in plain English: what's sound, what needs watching, and what needs fixing now — with a written quote for anything that does. No scare tactics, no jargon, and if the roof is fine we'll tell you it's fine.
Gutter Clearing
Blocked gutters overflow down the brickwork and cause damp inside — one of the most common and most avoidable problems we see. An annual clear is enough for most homes, ideally in late autumn once the leaves are down. We check the joints and brackets while we're up there.
Moss Removal, Done Carefully
Moss isn't just cosmetic. It holds water against the tiles, sheds into the gutters and blocks them, and in winter the freeze-thaw cycle cracks tiles that stay permanently wet. We remove it carefully by hand and brush. What we don't do is jet-wash pitched roofs — high-pressure water strips the surface off older tiles, forces water under the laps and takes years off the roof.
Buying a House? Get the Roof Checked First
A general survey often says little more than "roof appears in average condition". Before you exchange on a house in Bow, Bethnal Green or anywhere else in the borough, we'll inspect the roof properly and tell you what's actually up there — so you know what you're buying and what it might cost you.
Planned Maintenance for Landlords and Blocks
If you manage rental property or a block, planned maintenance means fewer emergency calls from tenants and tidy records for the file. We offer scheduled inspections and gutter clearing for portfolios across Tower Hamlets — see our landlords and agents page for how that works.
